This heirloom butterhead lettuce comes from a peasant family in Marburg, Yugoslavia (now Slovenia) and was introduced by SESE in 1987. The red-tinged outer leaves form 10-inch heads, while the inner leaves are a creamy yellow-green dappled with red. With a succulent texture and buttery flavor, it's as attractive as it is delicious.
