Roselle Hibiscus is a magnificent tropical plant with vivid crimson calyces used across the world to make the tangy, jewel-red hibiscus tea — known as agua de jamaica in Mexico, bissap in West Africa, and karkadé in the Middle East — with a bright, cranberry-like tartness that's both refreshing and rich in vitamin C. The calyces are also outstanding made into jams, syrups, and sauces, and the edible leaves have a pleasant sour flavor excellent in salads and Asian cooking. A stunning, multipurpose heirloom.
