Growing tips

🌱Start indoors 6–8 weeks before last frost. Tomatillos need warm soil and a long season — transplant outdoors after last frost in full sun. Plant at least 2 plants for cross-pollination and fruit set.

☀️Plant in full sun with well-drained, fertile soil. Space 24–36" apart — plants spread wide and produce prolifically. No staking needed; fruits naturally drop to the ground when fully ripe.

💧Water consistently, especially during fruit set. Tomatillos are relatively drought tolerant once established but produce best with steady moisture. Mulch to retain soil moisture and suppress weeds.

🌮Harvest when husks are fully papery and fruits have burst through or filled the husk completely. Roast with garlic, onion, and jalapeño, then blend for an authentic salsa verde that’s miles ahead of anything from a jar.
