Pepperoncini Pepper — also known as the Italian sweet pepper or Tuscan pepper — is a mild, tangy heirloom from southern Italy best known as the green, pickled peppers that come with pizza delivery and submarine sandwiches, but genuinely extraordinary when fresh from the garden. At 100–500 Scoville units, the heat is barely perceptible and the bright, slightly sweet-tart flavor is wonderful fresh in Greek salads, pickled whole in brine, stuffed with cheese, or layered into sandwiches and antipasto platters.
