Formanova Beet — also called Butter Slicer — is a Danish heirloom with a uniquely elongated, cylindrical root that produces perfectly uniform, round slices from top to bottom, eliminating the tapered waste of round beets and making it the most practical beet for pickling and canning. The vibrant red flesh has a wonderful texture, natural sweetness, and a tender bite that makes it as enjoyable roasted and served warm as it is pickled and enjoyed cold. A clever and rewarding heirloom.
