Chiltepin Pepper is the wild ancestor of all cultivated chili peppers — known as 'the mother of all peppers' — a tiny, round heirloom native to the American Southwest and Mexico with a fierce, quick-hitting heat at 50,000–100,000 Scoville units that arrives fast and dissipates quickly. The birds that disperse their seeds in the wild are immune to capsaicin, making Chiltepin a favorite for attracting wild birds while also producing a prized seasoning for salsas, pickles, and traditional Sonoran dishes.
