Bred by Merlyn Niedens in 1998 as a cross between Jenny Lind and Kansas, this melon produces sweet 2-pound fruits on compact vines. Nicknamed the Green Machine for its abundant yield, the perfectly sized fruits make a natural bowl for a scoop of ice cream and slip off the vine when ripe to signal peak harvest.
