Edisto 47 Melon
Developed by Clemson/AES in 1965, this cantaloupe-type melon has salmon-orange flesh and a netted rind on round-oval fruits measuring approximately 6 to 7 inches in diameter. Known for superior disease resistance, it outperforms many hybrid cantaloupes against Alternaria leaf spot, powdery mildew, and downy mildew, thriving especially well in Mid-Atlantic and hot, humid climates. Harvest at full slip for optimal sweetness even in cooler, wet conditions.
