Black Beauty, a 1957 All-America Selections winner, produces dark green fruits that deepen to near-black as they mature, with white flesh and a small seed cavity; plants are semi-spineless and semi-upright with an open growth habit, and the fruits freeze well. Growers have found it useful as a trap plant for handpicking squash bugs, as it attracts them more readily than other zucchini varieties.
