Honeynut Squash is the miniature butternut that’s taken the food world by storm — and for good reason. Growing tips

🌱Direct sow after last frost when soil reaches 60°F, or start indoors 3–4 weeks early. Honeynut needs a long, warm season — in northern climates, starting indoors is strongly recommended.

☀️Plant in full sun with rich, well-drained soil. Vines spread wide — give them room or train them along a fence. Consistent warmth throughout the season is key to developing maximum sweetness.

💧Water deeply at the base, especially during fruit set. Once fruit is sizing up, reduce watering slightly to concentrate sugars in the flesh.

🌽Harvest when skin turns fully tan-orange and the stem begins to dry and cork over. Cure at room temperature for 1–2 weeks to deepen flavor — then halve, roast with butter and maple syrup, and enjoy.
