🌱Start indoors 8–10 weeks before last frost. Artichokes need a cold vernalization period (50–55°F for 2+ weeks) to trigger bud formation — expose seedlings to cool temps before transplanting out.

☀️Plant in full sun with rich, deeply worked soil. Space 4–6' apart — these are large, architectural plants that need room to spread and make a dramatic garden statement.

💧Water deeply and consistently. Artichokes are heavy feeders and drinkers — mulch well to retain moisture and feed with a balanced fertilizer monthly during the growing season.

✂️Harvest buds while still tight and firm, before the bracts begin to open. Cut with 1–2" of stem attached. Once buds flower, they’re past their prime for eating but make stunning ornamental blooms.
