Moon and Stars, Yellow Fleshed Watermelon
This early 1900s Georgia family heirloom, introduced in 1987 by Southern Exposure Seed Exchange, is a sweet and flavorful Moon and Stars watermelon known for its high sugar content and distinctive rind covered in small yellow stars and occasional moons. Fruits weigh 15 to 35 pounds and the variety also offers some tolerance to disease and drought. A fun way to serve it is by halving and scooping out melon balls to fill the scalloped rind with mixed fruit.
